An emotional downturn...
last modified: Saturday, August 08, 2009 (4:53:07 PM CST)
So I was already feeling gloomy about a few things in my life. Don't ask why....it's really more of an internal struggle.

But today I had a thought really strike me - people can really suck. From everyday situations - to online situations - to just about every situation. More and more, all I can think is that people suck.

Which is why I feel like I need to take a little break from things. If you do not see me for a while, I'm just hiding under a rock trying to regain my faith in humanity.

An Update of Craziness
last modified: Tuesday, April 28, 2009 (1:50:35 PM CST)
I do this every time. I stock-pile my parcels as they come in - too busy or lacking motivation to scan. Finally, I get fed-up with it all and do one massive update. So, here it is! I think I'm going to make this a quarterly event, as it seems to fall every 3 months or so.

This time I've added my booty from what I am fondly calling "the great YYH exchange". Of course, much to my delight, I was able to trade for series other than YYH - including a FABULOUS Trigun OP.

And that seg-ways nicely to my other plunder - two Trigun Ending cels from Mandarake BWA. Sweet Fancy Zeus...what a wonderful snag.

You may also notice updates to other series - I'm super-stoked *and apparently 13 years old* to have even more artwork from Primo Passo.

Now, I still have a TON to update with that is already in my hands. In addition, I have several parcels still out in Limbo.

So look for another update in about 3 months or so!

My Newest Pet Peeve
last modified: Friday, April 10, 2009 (1:14:33 PM CST)
So I have a new bitch to pitch. I am getting a little tired of seeing this scenario.
(1.) Cel shows up on Auction Site.
(2.) Cel remains on Auction Site for quite some time - no bids.
(3.) Cel finally gets a bid.
(4.) Only a few short days later, Cel shows up on site for sale at significantly marked up price.

I would not pay the opening bid for the piece, why would I pay your double-marked-up price for it now?

I'm sorry, it's just a little irritating. Oh, by the way, I am not referring to personal galleries with collectors selling their items. I'm talking about store fronts.

Sorry for the rant.

Ermmmm...a little update:)
last modified: Saturday, March 07, 2009 (11:42:57 AM CST)
So I've finally updated with some of the back-logged pieces that I have. I've been waiting for a few packages to arrive, and while I have a few outstanding parcels, I decided to go ahead with what I already have. I'll update again, once the others arrive. I do have a few more pieces in hand to add, but I cannot for the life of me ID the character, although I do have a slight idea. So...look for that later today! Maybe.

I've added several new series in addition to ones that I already like to hoard. So...enjoy!

So...We're all a little obsessive.
last modified: Tuesday, February 17, 2009 (1:43:49 PM CST)
That's just the nature of our personalities. As "extreme hobbyists", I think you have to be a little obsessive.

But I always notice my obsessive behavior when I am doing something non-anime related. I kind-of take it for granted that I am crazy about anime...that's just how it is. But there is another thing that I am just as crazy about: Reading. I often find myself horribly sucked into stories, reading for days on end if I can.

My most recent addiction? The THE SOOKIE STACKHOUSE aka SOUTHERN VAMPIRE SERIES by Charlaine Harris. If you watch HBO, I'm sure that you recognize this as the source material for TrueBlood. And while they did an amazing job with the first season (12 episodes) of this series, the story is different in many respects. The most obvious? The character of Jason. I'll leave it at that, if you are a fan of either the book or the show, but have not read/seen the other.

So, I just started the series last Wednesday. With the first book. I finished book 8 - From Dead to Worse - yesterday evening. Oh, I forgot to mention that I started it yesterday afternoon around lunch-time. Yeah...obsessive.

So what can you garner from this blog? GO READ THE SOOKIE STACKHOUSE aka SOUTHERN VAMPIRE SERIES. It is too much fun!!

Big Dumb D'Oh!
last modified: Thursday, January 15, 2009 (5:32:55 PM CST)
I decided to go through some of my books to compare what I'm showing online to what I actually have in my possession. Yes...I can easily get confused. For example: I was going to sell off my Fushigi Yuugi collection and deleted most of the items in my gallery. I then decided to keep what was left. Basically, I deleted items that I still have.

Conversely, I think that I have several items showing that are not in my binders. I know - you'd think that I'd have an accurate accounting of what I own. Truth is, my gallery gets away from me quite easily!

So please bear with me as I try to add back in what I currently own, as well as delete what I do not own anymore.

A Cluster-Bleep of an Ending...
last modified: Monday, December 15, 2008 (6:04:02 PM CST)
Or as I like to call it "The Mega-Super-Update-A-Thon". I'm in the process of doing my semi-anual update/year end update. It's going to take me some time as I have quite the haul this time. The first batch is done, and I hope to get to more tomorrow. I make no promises though, as I have no idea what tomorrow will be like.

Sooooo....look forward to more updates!

When is a Wishlist cel not a Wishlist?
last modified: Wednesday, September 24, 2008 (5:39:49 PM CST)
When there is absolutely no hope of ever possibly coming into contact with the cel! There are so many scenes that I have seen that make me shudder and gasp "wishlist". But I do have a rational thought every now and again - "There is no way that you are ever going to get that - don't even bother wasting your time" - is what I often tell myself during these moments.

So I don't even wish. Why bother?

But holy crow. I have just had an unspoken wish granted. I cannot believe it!! He's here. He's mine. And I only have a little time to share a small image of him with you. It's on my top page - first image on the preview portion.

I'm hoping to pull together a nice formal update soon. Of course, I have some images that I need to work on for one Miss Gonzai - so that she can do an update! *I promise I will try to work on them tomorrow* So...she comes first!

The *God I wish I could Use Monopoly Money* Update
last modified: Wednesday, September 03, 2008 (2:44:21 PM CST)
I've finally gotten off of my butt to add my booty from Comic Con - well...there is two more pieces to add, but that will not be for a little bit yet. Now you can see why I was trying so desparately to sell my soul! You put in a bid on an item and think..."I'll never win that"...."why not put a bid in on another item". But wait...what are the chances that I'll win that? Ehhh...might as well throw in another bid. And another. And another. Well...I think you can see where this is headed! Needless to say, when my name popped up on four of the exquisite pieces, I was absolutely thrilled!!! And a little breathless. Now, here they are for your viewing pleasure. That, and some unexpected Hellboy finds! Who would have thunk!!

Goodbye Sweet Prince
last modified: Thursday, July 31, 2008 (9:28:23 AM CST)
You were my closest and truest friend...someone that would give me love unconditionally. You never held a grudge...you never threw a fit. Every now and again, you'd pout - but that was easily remedied with a soothing tone and a hug. Even on my worst days you brought a smile to my face. You would greet me every morning with a light kiss on my nose...and end every day the same. Now I find a great hole in my chest trying to figure out how I will get through each day.

My dear Oliver passed away this morning in my husbands arms. I almost went to work, but decided to stay with them. It was the greatest gift on the worst of days...but it is something to say that I got to spend the morning hours with my boys as the sun came up. It's so hard to think that 3 days ago, Oliver was a happy, bouncing pup. I'm glad that he went quickly. I'm glad that he did not suffer. I just wish that I had a little more time with him. Only a little.

So it is at this juncture that I would like to ask for some patience from you, the community. I know that I had parcels to send out today, but please understand that I will not be making the trip to the post office. I will do my best to get the parcels out tomorrow or the following day.

Watch me from above, dear one.

Lack of Focus?
last modified: Monday, July 14, 2008 (3:07:43 PM CST)
I was once told that I lack focus with my collecting. At first, I argued ferociously. Well...in my mind at least. But looking at what I've updated today, I think that I must at last agree with this assessment. *sigh* I cannot help it. I was just so thrilled to find artwork from some of these series. Example #1: Tokyo Majin. I love this series so much and could not believe it when I was able to purchase some of the artwork. Example #2: Honey x Honey Drops. While I'm not a huge fan of the OVA, I do like the manga...and the style of artwork is gorgeous!

So do I lack focus? Yes! Am I extremely distractable? Yes! Do I care...do you smell bacon?

An Update? What the Deuce?
last modified: Wednesday, April 02, 2008 (1:09:58 PM CST)
Sorry...I've been watching too much Family Guy. I get lines stuck in my head and they won't leave for weeks!

But like the title says...I've finally added some artwork! It seems to have become a semi-anual event. But I find myself hard-pressed to take the time to scan things throughout the week. This means that things tend to pile up until I get fed up with the mess. Then...scanning. And scanning. And scanning. A little stitching...a little merging. And finally...an UPDATE! By the time I'm done with all of this, I find that I have little left in my mind to add witty commentary. Be that as it may, I did add some text this time around.

So, take some time. Look around. Enjoy!

Does it Even Matter?
last modified: Saturday, March 08, 2008 (9:34:52 AM CST)
I've been thinking about not updating in the "New Additions" section of my gallery. It takes time, and I don't even know if it is worth it. Is it easier for everyone to check to see what's new all in one section? Or would you prefer just to look at each individual series...that way you don't have to wade through anything that you don't want to view?

Here...but not here....
last modified: Friday, January 25, 2008 (6:46:24 PM CST)
For those of you that have been trying to contact me, I'm still here! I've just been extremely busy at work for the past two weeks. I will do my best to respond to you by Sunday.

And Nikki...I especially owe you an apology! I've gotten your pms...and I promise I will write back as soon as possible!

Please let me be done...
last modified: Wednesday, January 16, 2008 (3:23:01 PM CST)
Well...I'm stopping for now. I'm on overload! I still have more to add, but I just cannot bring myself to edit anymore scans or create any more thumbnails. So you'll just have to be happy with what is currently up!

Blood, Sweat and Tears....
last modified: Tuesday, January 15, 2008 (3:12:01 PM CST)
Well...it really isn't as bad as all that. But my eyes are a bit googley! Something about staring at a computer screen for so long puts everything I view into vertical lines. But I can now share a portion of my new items. That's right, I still have more to go. *sigh* And I am quickly running out of motivation! Soon. Maybe.

**One more series to go! Today I added the easier of the two - Tenjou Tenge. Tomorrow I hope to tackle Prince of Tennis. I even have the separate schools ready to upload! I'm almost there! Oh...I did find out that I have another parcel on the way. *sigh* Just when I saw the end in sight!

My Favorite non-tournament Episode of POT...
last modified: Sunday, December 23, 2007 (12:02:29 PM CST)
At least so far! That's right folks, I just watched the episode of Prince of Tennis where "Wonderful Days" is sung. I was so tickled to see that song was actually in the series! And to see those pretty boys singing....mmmmmm Sanada!!

The Spirit of the Season has posessed me.
last modified: Monday, December 17, 2007 (9:15:40 PM CST)
And it's making me do bad...bad...things! I've made the majority of my gallery visible again. I was going to do some changes, but never really got around to it. So, I decided to make everything - well...almost everything - visible again. At least for the time being.

So check things out before the spirit leaves me!

Errrmmm..*shuffles feet*...my artwork
last modified: Sunday, December 16, 2007 (1:55:53 PM CST)
It has been a very long time since I have felt even remotely motivated to draw. But a certain series has stricken the urge back into me! I used to be really good at drawing faces...but that was a long time ago. I find myself quite rusty these days, so please excuse my lack of talent. I know that many of you out there are extremely gifted in this particular avenue, so please understand that I am just playing around, and be gentle with your critiques!

The Grand Money Pit
last modified: Wednesday, November 28, 2007 (7:08:38 AM CST)
Curious about what I've been funnelling my money to in the past 2 years? Well...other than cels?

Alot of hard work went into this baby, and I was there to supervise the whole time! Just kidding, we did alot of the work ourselves, and I have the cuts/bruises/lumps to prove it!

http://www.geocities.com/jlfairbrook/Construction.html

We are pretty much settled in, with a little work still to be done. But we'll get to it...eventually!

An update...FINALLY!!
last modified: Tuesday, September 04, 2007 (1:43:02 PM CST)
I know that I have been missing as of late. And updating hasn't been my strongest project. But I decided to scan some of my newest pieces and show them online - at least for a little bit.

With much pestering from some of you, I decided to share my newest series - Primo Passo. I will hopefully have another Rilezu to scan in a few weeks, with many more to follow!!

I have another new series - Shounen Onmyouji.

I still have several things to scan, and who knows when I'll get around to it. But I'll try to post when I actually do fall off of the lazy train and get to it!

Partial AX Update
last modified: Tuesday, July 17, 2007 (3:24:54 PM CST)
I'm finally getting around to this. Sorry for the delay!! It looks like I have 3 pages in the update - and don't forget to check out everything, as I have them in no particular order. I may break the items down into their proper headings later on, but for now, I just don't have the time to do it all.

I still have more to update...all of the fabulous gifts I received! I still cannot believe what great friends I have. Thank yous will be along shortly.

At any rate, I think that you can tell that I like Bleach. A little. I feel quite blessed that I was able to get so many wonderful pieces this year.

Thank you to everyone who made my AX2007 so memorable:)

Can you Resist?
last modified: Tuesday, June 05, 2007 (6:32:02 PM CST)
Every now and again I come across a series that I absolutely love - the story-line, the artwork, etc. But for whatever reason, I am not compelled to search for artwork from said series. Like I've said, it happens few and far between. Usually if I love a series, I find myself compelled to search for any little scrap of artwork. But not so with my most recently finished series - Ghost Hunt. This is such a great show...I highly recommend it!

But what else have I been able to resist? Let's see....
*Spiral
*Full Metal Panic - I did have 2 rilezu, but have parted with them
*E's Otherwise
*Ai no Kusabi
*Black Cat
*Jyu Oh Sei
*Cowboy Bebop - with the exception of one Gren!
*Paradise Kiss

It seems like my list is quite short compared to my list of obsessions! But at least I have a little self-control. Right?

Props for Gonzai!!!
last modified: Wednesday, May 16, 2007 (10:39:34 AM CST)
This is just a message to throw out a HUGE hug to Nida for all of the help that she has given me lately. You are a true gem!! I truely appreciate all of your support, even though I have been missing somewhat of late. The same goes to you too Kata!! I promise I will try to write to you this evening - depending on how late I end up working:*(

Girlier than Before?
last modified: Thursday, June 15, 2006 (5:00:25 PM CST)
OH YES! It just seems to keep getting worse. But I have decided to embrace my feminine side. I'll kick her ass later in a dark alley, but for now she can shine through. It seems like almost all of the series that I am drawn to lately are really sweet in nature. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the majority of series I have recently completed end with everyone basically dying. These sweet little series seem to make up for all of the chaos and negativity of those darker series.

At any rate, I think you can see that my latest design reflects warm and fuzzy feelings - at least for now!

Apparently....I'm a girl.
last modified: Tuesday, June 06, 2006 (11:55:12 AM CST)
As much as I hate to admit it, it turns out that I am a chick at heart. Don't get me wrong...I still love my violence and gore. But it turns out that I like love stories as well. It is highly unnerving. But since I cannot seem to stop watching Hana Yori Dango, I can no longer deny it.

I have just received a batch of HYD goodies that were acquired from trades...I can't wait to scan them! Hopefully I will have the chance this evening or tomorrow. Although, I will most likely spend tonight with mom - she is home from the Hospital!! Either that, or I will spend my time trying to build up testosterone!

By the way, my For Trade page is still up, so if you have any HYD goodies to trade, stop on by!!
